About Us

What is FTE?

FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) is generally defined as one student in membership in a program or a group of programs for 1500 min (25 hours a week) for a 180-day school year.  The FTE calculation is based on two 90-day terms.  Each student in membership and in attendance will earn one half (.50) FTE during each of two survey periods - Survey 2 (October) and Survey 3 (February).

FTE Surveys provide the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) with a snapshot of instructional activity occurring in Florida's public schools.  The Student Information System (SIS) is the vehicle that provides all the demographic information along with the program placement, scheduling, attendance, discipline, etc. for each record submitted for funding.  There are actually nine (9) surveys that are part of the State reporting process, and they all have an impact on funding.  Our system data accounts for over $1,000,000,000 (one billion dollars) in revenue for the District.

Important SY 19 FTE Dates

Survey 1: Week July 9-13, 18
Eleven Day Count: August 27, 18
Survey 2: Week: October 8-12, 18
Survey 3: Week: February 4-8, 19
Survey 4: Week: June 10-14, 19

Survey 2 and Survey 3
Survey 2 is our most important survey and the busiest time for the department.  CSR is measured in October and over 800 million dollars in data is submitted in those two Surveys alone.

VAM Rosters
The rosters prepared in both Survey 2 and 3 serve as the basis for assigning VAM scores to teachers in the new teacher evaluation system.  Teachers verify rosters in the FTE process to ensure that FTE is correct and that VAM scores are assigned appropriately.

What is CSR?
CSR stands for Class Size Reduction and was voted on by the citizens of Florida in 2002.  The current requirements affect core classes (math, language arts, science, social studies and computer science) in the State's public schools.  The current caps are:

Grades PK-3    -   18 students

Grades 4-8      -   22 students

Grades 9-12    -   25 students

Charter schools, full choice and alternative schools use school-wide averages and are not bound by classroom averages.

We provide support to all elementary, middle, high, adult, alternative, DJJ, and charter institutions throughout our county totaling over 225 sites.

Due to the volume of school centers that we currently serve, we are not able to send Field Techs to school sites.  We encourage you to send Data Processor (DP) to us for any on-going training.  We have set up a mini-lab in our office specifically for that purpose.  Field Techs will be available to guide DPs in any area they may need help with.
